In addition to being aesthetically beautiful to look at, scented candles can also become an excellent gift ideas for any occasion.

At Christmas, Easter, or a birthday: there is nothing more appropriate than a candle that releases its pleasant scent throughout the house. Especially if it is a natural product, without the shadow of any waste. As in the case of ecological do-it-yourself candles, made at home, with simple ingredients, and with significant savings. Let's see how.

  • First of all, if you want to make candles "do it yourself", you need to get some natural wax, glass or silicone containers, which will also serve as molds; then you will need to have with you some wicks, pots to melt the wax in a bain-marie, a wooden ladle, and essential oils of your choice. You can also recycle remnants of old candles to make new ones. At this point, you can melt the wax in a double boiler, over low heat, and add 10 drops of the essential oil of your choice. Mix the fragrant mixture well and when the wax has melted, immerse the wick in it for a few seconds, which you will then dry on aluminum foil. This is to ensure that the wick remains stiff when you finally insert it into the candle. Then, pour the melted wax into your container and hold the wick vertically so as to dip it into the wax-up to the top, which however remains uncovered. Let the wax dry in the molds by placing them in a cool place. Your beautiful scented candle is ready. As soon as it has cooled down, you can immediately use it.
  • If you want to be even more creative and create an original candle also aesthetically, play with the nuances and with the perfume. Therefore, you can create a multicolored candle, making different layers of wax with different natural colors, even of vegetable origin, which you find in large retailers, in the form of powders or pearls. Or you can make your own color by using a tea bag with which you can give life to different shades of yellow, with lemon, green tea, with green or even pink tea, with red fruit tea.
  • The “do it yourself” candle can also be made with wax of animal or vegetable origin. Excellent is that of soy which has a low melting point and a light scent even when it is off. The soy wax is easily modeled and no butter or oils should be added. Rice wax or mimosa wax are also good for making candles, but they must be mixed with oils or butter to make them harden and last longer.
  • To make super ecological candles you can use lard, which was also used in ancient times. Get some glass containers, oil paints (or even wax crayons), scented essences, and obviously some wicks. Start by gluing the wick to the bottom of the jar, using hot glue. To keep the wick upright, wrap the top of the wick around a toothpick. At this point, take the lard and melt it in a bain-marie in a saucepan; then also melt the wax colors and mix the liquid obtained with the previously melted lard. After mixing, add a few drops of the essence. Finally, pour the mixture into the glass container in which you glued the wick. Finally, put the jar in the fridge for the lard to solidify. Your scented candle is ready! At this point, you can decorate the jar and lid to your liking to make it a nice gift idea too.
